The Collaborative Water Resource Management Project originated through Coca-Cola’s global water replenishment concept. The long-time Worldwide Olympic Partner was keen on leveraging the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 to build a sustainable clean water environment for the Republic of Korea. An MOU for the project was signed one day prior to ‘World Water Day’ (March 22nd).
Paul Yi, General Manager of Coca-Cola Korea, said: “We are fully committed to supporting eco-friendly PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games through this project launch.” He added: “Even after PyeongChang 2018, we will continue to manage the related watershed in collaboration with Gangwon-do, Korea National Park Service and Eco Green Campus and to promote various eco-friendly projects that fit into the needs of Korean communities in partnership with the WWF.”
This partnership demonstrates a ‘win-win collaboration model’ among business, civil society and government. After PyeongChang 2018, the project’s objective will be to improve biodiversity and to protect the local habitat by building sustainable water resources.
